2-hour "Walk-up and go explore" excursion:

River round-trips depart the beachfront throughout the day - look for the A-frame sign along the beach walk near the watersports boat rental dock for next departure time.

We travel along the lakeshore to the mouth of the Harrison river, past Sandy cove, then down the northwest riveredge past Baby seal hideaways, Dick Ward's homestead, the rare black and white images at Salamander Rock, Nose rock, and Selected red ocre rock paintings. We travel back along the southeast riveredge while learning the history of the Harrison, the gold rush and Indian legends. We return to the beachfront and give the village a canoe paddle greeting.

4-hour "1/2 day tour":

River round-trip departs the beach at 9:00am

We travel along the lakeshore to the mouth of the Harrison river, past Sandy cove, then down the northwest riveredge past Baby seal hideaways, Dick Ward's homestead, Salamander Rock, Nose rock, and Selected rock paintings and stone people. Travelling further downriver, we pass MacDonald bay and Vic MacDonald's stone harbour, breathing rock, badminton rock, Morris Mountain (Sasquatch meeting place), Hat rock, Layers of seal fat rock. We spy wild trees and bushes: Cherry, Dogwood, Pine, Cedar, Blackberries, Crab apple, Blueberries, Salal, Snow berries and Salmon berries. We'll stop in a sheltered spot to set up a riverside meal of fresh baking, vegetables, meats and smoked salmon. After dessert, we'll continue the expedition to a gallery of red ocre painted images. You can join one of our guides to stretch your legs as you take a 2-minute hike to reach a lookout at "Chocolate Bar" - on a calm day you can look down on the clear river to see the dinosaur-like sturgeon fish glide along the river bottom.

We travel back along the southeast riveredge while learning the history of the Harrison, the gold rush and Indian legends. Along the way back, if conditions permit, we will investigate an ancient cave site. We return to the beachfront and give the village a canoe paddle greeting.
